JANE
TOMLINSON PENNINE LANCASHIRE 10K EVENT ON SUNDAY 11th
JULY 2010
The event was a huge success with over 2000 entrants
It was a very windy day and trying to erect our gazebo
in readiness for our runners coming to receive their
complimentary massage was no easy task.
Out of our 72 entrants our top runner was Stuart
Proctor with a time of 45minutes and 4 secs.
I would like to thank all the participants and volunteers
who took part in this event and all the volunteers who
gave their help by marshaling on the day. We managed to
reach the required number of 50 helpers which means that
we will receive £1000 from the organisers - Run For
All.
Thank you to the Allcock family and Ed Barrow who helped
erect and dismantle the marquee and carry the equipment.
Ed also drove our minibus to and from the event and unfortunately
for us will be emigrating later in the year. I wish him
a fond farewell. Kathie Buggie and Dymphna Pepper helped
with leg massages for the runners and not forgetting our
fantastic volunteer Pat Haworth who always goes that extra
mile for the Hospice. She and her brilliant husband Jim
have supported us at events for many years and now. - I
don't know where I would be without them all.
The Jane Tomlinson’s Pennine Lancashire 10k
followed a route through Blackburn town centre from
Witton
Park and
was the first of its kind in Lancashire, following three
previous and very successful Run for
All events in Leeds,
Hull and
York.
If you would like to volunteer for events contact Maureen,
our volunteer co-ordinator on : 01706 253633 opt1
The hardest bit now for the participants is collecting
all those sponsors so good luck and see you all next year
for the same again!!
